We need more Bank Holidays, get it sorted Government, give us more I ask.

Had a great time at the footie on Saturday, managed to meet up with Dan and two of the Gray brothers in Islington before the match (was late due to half of the frickin' Piccadilly Line being closed leaving me to get a bus in the sweltering smoggy heat). Very nice it was too, Dan's hangover and obvious Tottenham-related stress was very apparent, poor boy even had his sunnies on upside down...

Rich and I then headed off to Ashburton to watch the game. Cracking finish by Fabregas, came out of no-where really. The games after yet another pointless International break (they really get on my wick, why are they still being played?!) can sometimes be unpredictable but Arsenal kept plugging away at a very determined Man city side and eventually got the break they deserved. City look a very different team to last year, the partnership of Dunne and the awesome Richards at the back should serve them very well this year and they'll have plenty of clean sheets; their attack still looks a little weak though, Mpenza had a good chance on Saturday, as did Petrov, so Sven may be tempted to dip into Dr Shinawatra's wallet once more to replace the unlucky Bojinov and give them a bit more bite up front.

Three more days until the transfer window shuts, so what can we expect? Well, Arsene may have a dabble, am surprised he hasn't bought an extra Centre Back yet. A left winger and a striker would also be welcome. If I were in his shoes, and God-willing, one day I will be, I would splash out on Mertesaker, Quaresma and Martins. However, I'd expect either no activity or another teenage to come through he doors. As for other clubs, Lord knows what's going on the rumour mongering is in over-over-drive at the moment...

It was Box Rocks yesterday, a teenie music 'festival' (one stage in a pub car park) in the village of Box. There were loads of bikers there, all ready to rock out, however, the highlight of the day was clearly the keepie-uppie session going on in the park between 6 of us. We managed to do 25 although it could have been more had Pete put his pint down and stopped doing those silly gaylord flicks of his.

Only a few more days until Tobe's stag do in the Toon, will try and fit in another blog before then...

Hi, I'm Ed Winchester. What a week for Spurs, eh? After Jolgate, Berbatov's agent has now come out tonight and said Man U are in for him. Crikey. Oh well, it's nice for the bad press to be diverted form Arsenal for a change, and long may it continue!

Am off to the Arsenal - Man City game with Rich tomorrow, well excited. Should

be an interesting game, too. Man City were pretty lucky last week against United, Micah Richards was simply awesome at centre back, I'd put a bid in now Arsene
before anyone else gets their grubby hands on him.
Martin Jol, yesterday

If we can take an early chance for a change, City's resolve will really be tested as Sven doesn't really openly attack his opponents (just his secretaries, ouch!). Anyhoo, be great to be at the ground for the first time in a while, here's hoping for a cracker.

Only two weeks left at work, well, 7 working days; Bank Holiday, wo-hoo!

It's Toby's stag do in Newcastle next weekend. There's 6 of us going up on the same flight so that should be interesting (and yet enjoyable). Never been to the Toon before but heard its a crackin neet oot; well, that's what Viz taught me anyway.

Have a funky weekend and enjoy the sunshhhiiinnnnnnnnnne

Well, we couldn't have asked for a better (or funnier) start to the football season, could we? Arsenal have won two on the bounce, the Spudz are bottom of the league, and last night Ronaldo got himself booked for three matches whilst united are looking seriously short of firepower. Enjoy it while it lasts, good to see Tottenham are already fighting for a bottom four finish...

Sparta Prague played a very physical first half against The Arsenal last night, but the lads managed to match them during a very patchy 45 minutes; Fabregas even managed to crock that thug, Tomas Repka.
Alex Hleb - not quite as lethal in
front of goal as Rich Ashby

Sparta's truculence faded as they ran out of energy during the second half and Fabregas and Hleb both produced tidy finishes to hopefully put the tie to bed.

Rich and myself are off to see Arsenal next weekend against Sven's Man City, its looking an intriguing game already.

Only 3 weeks left at work now, more importantly, there are only 3 lunchtime 5-a-sides to go. Today's game was absolute gash (i.e. we lost), will be looking for a marked improvement next week. I've been granted a testimonial game on September 4th so I'll need to be firing on all cylinders by then.

In other news, we're all off to Steeple this weekend for a bash round at my sisters. Will try and get some pix for the site. Have a good weekend, be lucky!

Hello, sorry for lack of updates, been a very busy week that's mainly been about getting a new job.

But before all that business, I must fill you in on the cricket last Saturday. There were two things that Pete and Si had chosen not to tell me about last week's game, namely that the team we were playing had one of the fastest bowlers in village cricket and that helmets would be required. Nice. Anyhoo, i didn't trouble the scorers I'm afraid, I was spectacularly caught on my second ball by a particularly athletic fielder. Oh well, no justice is there? We lost by 4 wickets in the end, we only had ten men, mind.

Great day tho, went to a lovely pub in Castle Combe afterwards, it' gorgeous little village about 4/5 miles outside of Bath which also happens to have a major racing track. The cricket pitch was just over the road form the track and we were treated to the sound of highly revved engines and big skids all the way through the match, idyllic England at its best.

Big news this week has been that I've got anew job. I'm finally leaving the council after nearly ten years of 87 days off a year to go and work in Queens Square in Bath, looking forward to it.

Its the start of the football season today, praise be. Come on Arsenal. Hopefully Sunderland can do us all a favour and embarrass Spuz this lunchtime and I fancy Villa to do Liverpool this evening, too; although my predictions on this website have been less than reliable thus far...

Morning,

Funny week this one, was still suffrin' with man flu for most of it but recovered substantially enough to go out with James and Pete on Thursday night. Why oh why i thought it might be a good idea to play pro evo until 2am after the pub on a school night is beyond me...

Today should be cool, playing cricket with Si and Pete for a bumbling village team. Since I haven't really played for about 15 years I'm not really expecting to bother the scorers too much; nice way to spend a sunny day tho.
Ajax Vs. The Arsenal later today (8.15 ko), should be a good, if not tight, match. Be good to see if Eduardo can carry on where he left off, he looks like yet another shrewd signing by Le Boss.
